Post....."Hump Day" News & Views

We're sorry.....Is it Thursday .....already?

We missed "Hump Day"?   Been a rather busy week.......but here's what we've been following:

This Gilbert Arenas .....thing......just will not go away.......Mr. Arenas.....are you laughing ......now?

Gilbert Arenas Charged with Felony

Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas has been charged with a felony.

Arenas has been charged with one count of carrying a pistol without a license, in connection with a locker room standoff with teammate Javaris Crittenton on Christmas Eve.

As we first reported, Arenas' lawyer has been trying to negotiate a plea deal with the U.S. Attorney -- we're told Arenas would cop to a misdemeanor gun charge.

Story developing...
CHICAGO, Jan. 14 (UPI) -- Mary Thomas, mother of Florida International University basketball Coach Isiah Thomas, has died at age 87, weeks after she had a heart attack, the school said.

One Shot..........Two Years........

It could have been worse.........

From the New York Times:

Plaxico Burress, the former Giants receiver, pleaded guilty on Thursday morning to attempted criminal possession of a weapon, in a deal with Manhattan prosecutors that will send him to prison for two years.

Justice Michael H. Melkonian of State Supreme Court accepted the guilty plea. Under the plea agreement, along with the two-year prison sentence, Mr. Burress, 32, is to be sentenced on Sept. 22 to two years of post-release supervision. With good behavior, he will be eligible for release after slightly more than 20 months.

As we mentioned earlier.......it could have been worse....read on:

If the case were to go to trial and Mr. Burress were convicted of all charges — two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon and one count of second-degree reckless endangerment — he could face 3½ to 15 years in prison. The plea agreement still needs the approval of a State Supreme Court justice.

31/2 to 15 years???? In prison?......And you.......just shot.......yourself?

At first look........you kind of feel sorry for Plaxico........He's the one with the bullet wound in his thigh.......no one else was harmed or hurt.

But a second look.......looks at his utter.....stupidity. New York City has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation. Plaxico.........went into a night-club.......packing. Why? He stands 6 feet 7 inches. Michael Jordan never "packed"........And he is far more famous than Plaxico....will ever be. And..........he was "packing"........without a gun license. A no-no in NYC.

One shot.......two years. At age 32.......in his prime........he will be a 34 year old when he gets out.

Sad........

So sad........but he put himself.......into this mess.

One shot.....two years.

Welcome Back..........Michael Vick......Sort of....

Michael Vick........

Has been re-instated into the National Football League.

Conditionally.....

Meaning he can sign with a team........practice with a team.....play in pre-season games with a team........but...........

He cannot play with said team in a real game.......until October........or week six.

Excuse me while I puke. You're telling me, the United States government has sentenced this man to 2 years in a federal penitentiary........for which he served his time.......lost tens of millions of dollars.......And now the NFL....is flexing it's muscle.....by not letting him play....in a meaningful game.......until week six?

Let us ........puke.......some more.

Where is the "players union"? Why is the almighty NFL depriving Vick.....of making a living. Yes.....he is an ex-con....... and yes...........he paid his debt to society.

And........yes..........the NFL..........to borrow a quote from our president........"Acted....stupidly ".

Take your pick....on the following stories.......

Michael Vick paid his debt, but should NFL let him play?

Los Angeles Times - USA Today

Leave the man alone....let him play.........

Gone.......In a New York ........Minute

Mets and Braves Swap Right Fielders

It's a done deal........Tonight, the Atlanta Braves traded home grown right fielder, Jeff Francoeur to the New York Mets for another right fielder, Ryan Church.

After taking the city by storm when called up in 2005........Francoeurs' career....has steadily descended.

Once a two sport star....... at Parkview High....with a football scholarship to attend Clemson, Francoeur never matched that 2005 and 2006 season.

Instead of adjusting to pitchers.......The pitchers....adjusted to him.

Baseball is a mental game........the trade could be good for Jeff.

But .....in New York?

We.......will see.

Where Were You?

November 22, 1963.......

I had just turned 7 years old in September and was a first grader in a still segregated all black elementary school in Charleston, South Carolina.

My father was in the Navy..........my mother was home at the time.

That morning I had a severe asthma attack and my mother had to come to the school to pick me up.

I remember hearing teachers crying..........saying, "The president has been assassinated!".....Me, being only 7........asked, "Which one?" For all I ever knew, there was Washington, Lincoln, and now Kennedy.

It was a strange time. This was my first recollection ever of watching the news on television. Back then there were but three channels, NBC, CBS, and ABC.

I could not tell you if it was Walter Cronkite or Chet Huntley or David Brinkley ........or all of the above.

I remember the funeral..........the horses carrying the United States flagged draped casket.....

I remember that little boy, John F. Kennedy, Jr............holding his sisters hand....and his mother, Jacqueline........

I remember the country seemed to stop..........and for a brief time........there was no black or white....just Americans grieving......

And this was in 1963..........

Where were you?

Why There is Still Concern....in the Black Community

Some white people....just won't ever get over it....

This is very disturbing.....

But it is real. Be assured........it is very real.

The thought of an African-American president.

Let's just hope these two idiots are not a true representation of the United States of America.

Think about it.......A Barack Obama assassination would set this country back a hundred years in race relations.......would tear this country apart.

Just the thought of what these two guys were planning........is so repulsive....

Read it for yourself.......Via......New York Times:

Arrests in Plan to Kill Obama and Black Schoolchildren

Granted .....you won't see this on Fox News........

To them.......it never happened.....

But for us..........it's very chilling.

Not So Fast......Mr. & Mrs. "Media"

Recently....the media....has been killing the Bulldog football team....

You know the team.....from this southern college town.

You've seen it....or heard it.....or read it.....

Headlines like:

2 UGA players charged with battery; 3rd a suspect in separate ...

Two Bulldogs hospitalized after brawl | ajc.com

UGASports.com - Football player arrested for underage possession

GPB News: UGA football player arrested on weapons charge

And on and on it goes.......

Folks.....this is nothing new.......this is not earth shattering news....This is what happens in college towns all across the nation. These are 18 to 21 year old boys..........

Our crack research department came across a New York Times article from February of 1989 in which the following was stated:

BlockquoteAt Colorado, at least 28 football players have been involved in police incidents since February 1987. The other program with the most publicized incidents is the University of Oklahoma's. Since January, five football players have been arrested on weapons or rape or drug charges.Read the entire article:

The Wrong Kind of Headlines - New York Times

This article.......must I remind you.......was almost 10 years ago.

But the current media (ESPN and the likes) would have you believe the University of Georgia football team has become the criminal liking to Al Capone.......or the "Scarface " that is one Tony Montana.

There have been no rapes.......no drugs.......no murders.....And .....out of some 100 potential players, only 8 have had run-ins with police.

None were starters.......none vital back-ups.......

But...they are young.......and black.....and talented.

And ........ it makes good copy........a good story........especially when UGA is ranked #1 in the country.

Everybody just breathe.......take a deep breath.

Do your own research.....and look beyond the sensations and hypocrisies of ESPN.

Yes.......a few........have stepped out of line........No, it's not the end of the world....... Yes, boys will be boys........

And.......Mr. and Mrs. Media?

Take a chill pill........There's much worst things which have happened ....and are still happening in college athletics ........

Than the current news these recent Dawgs are providing.
