So..........Who Really won the Dunk Contest?

You be the judge.......

Did Nate Robinson win the 2009 NBA slam dunk contest.......or was Dwight (Superman) Howard robbed?

You be the judge....

Thanks to our friends at TNT and YouTube....

Things We Learned .....from the Week-end

If this was NASCAR's "Super Bowl".......

The "good ole boys" left a lot to be desired. Yes, I have always been a stock car racing fan....but in recent years I just can't get excited about 200 left hand turns in a 500 mile race. Daytona was supposed to be different. But nowadays, all the cars look the same, perform the same, the drivers all talk the same, act the same.......boring, boring, boring.

The only highlight was a wreck.......which ironically took out the sports most famous driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (right)

And to make matters worse.......Sunday's running of the 51st Daytona 500 was shortened...due to rain. No exciting finish.......no drama.......just naming the winner (Matt Kenseth
), who happened to have the lead when the rains came, after only 152 laps.

Ho hum , Nascar..............

Eleven.....is enough........
0-11 in 2009.....0-11 in the last 11 meetin
gs against Florida.....

This is what faced Terrance Woodbury (below) and the University of Georgia mens basketball team as they prepared to face the Florida Gators (they of the back to back NCAA champions of a few years back.

Well........Saturday, these dawgs got a Valentine's Day gift......maybe from Sir Cupid himself. Georgia upset Florida, 88-86 to gain its first win in the SEC this season. This team..........in which the head coach, Dennis Felton was fired.........this team..........with absolutely no talent..........this team....played an inspired game.....hit clutch baskets.......and pulled off a win.

In this southern college town..........this win was just what the doctor ordered on a cold and rainy winter afternoon.

The Shaq and Kobe show........

Co-MVPs? Hugging and laughing? Could this really be Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal? At last nights NBA all-star game, there was this love-fest between the two. Almost to the point of nausea........I thought they hated each other.....It sure was more fun back then.

Speaking of the NBA.......and the all-star festivities ..........did anyone actually watch the H.O.R.S.E. competition?

Or the Slam Dunk?

Or the 3 point contest?

Or the game........itself?

In Defense.......of Alex Rodriguez...

From "A-Roid".....to "A-Hole"..........

The tabloid papers across the New York area blasted Alex Rodriguez in light of his admitting taking steroids while a member of the Texas Rangers back in 2003.

In tests which were supposed to be confidential.....Sports Illustrated.com reported on it's web site Sunday, Rodriquez tested positive for using performance enhancing drugs.

You remember.......five years ago .......the United States government got involved....promised the players that no names would be revealed.....if the players association (the most powerful union on the planet) would let the players come clean......be tested......to finally see the extent of drug use in professional baseball.

Well...........there has been a leak. Names have been revealed. Someone broke a promise.

If you can't trust your government........who can you trust? And what recourse do you have? You can't sue the Feds.....

You do what A-Rod has done........Admit it........say you were young and dumb........and rely on the American public for forgiveness.

Only ..........this would not have been a story .... if names had
not been leaked. And this really should be the story.......but .....you and I know better.........

Take a look at these New York headlines:

Thoughts....on a Thursday?

No.....it's not Wednesday........

So this is not "Hump day".......so , no "Hump Day" writings..........

This is Thursday.....the day after......

We have been away for a while.......and look at what has happened.

We have had a Super Bowl..........We've had the college signing day.

And with that........we're sorry....We .......were off.............We sincerely apologize ...........

So .......now.......here are some thoughts on a cold day:

I thought this Super Bowl............was really super.

I think Jennifer............nailed the national anthem

I think Bruce........and the e street band totally handled the halftime festivities..........

I think that NBC did a masterful job in hosting this event..........

I think...............I'm tired..........

More to come....
