If this was NASCAR's "Super Bowl".......
The "good ole boys" left a lot to be desired. Yes, I have always been a stock car racing fan....but in recent years I just can't get excited about 200 left hand turns in a 500 mile race. Daytona was supposed to be different. But nowadays, all the cars look the same, perform the same, the drivers all talk the same, act the same.......boring, boring, boring.
The only highlight was a wreck.......which ironically took out the sports most famous driver, Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (right)
And to make matters worse.......Sunday's running of the 51st Daytona 500 was shortened...due to rain. No exciting finish.......no drama.......just naming the winner (Matt Kenseth), who happened to have the lead when the rains came, after only 152 laps.
Ho hum , Nascar..............
Eleven.....is enough........
0-11 in 2009.....0-11 in the last 11 meetings against Florida.....
This is what faced Terrance Woodbury (below) and the University of Georgia mens basketball team as they prepared to face the Florida Gators (they of the back to back NCAA champions of a few years back.
Well........Saturday, these dawgs got a Valentine's Day gift......maybe from Sir Cupid himself. Georgia upset Florida, 88-86 to gain its first win in the SEC this season. This team..........in which the head coach, Dennis Felton was fired.........this team..........with absolutely no talent..........this team....played an inspired game.....hit clutch baskets.......and pulled off a win.
In this southern college town..........this win was just what the doctor ordered on a cold and rainy winter afternoon.
The Shaq and Kobe show........
Co-MVPs? Hugging and laughing? Could this really be Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal? At last nights NBA all-star game, there was this love-fest between the two. Almost to the point of nausea........I thought they hated each other.....It sure was more fun back then.
Speaking of the NBA.......and the all-star festivities ..........did anyone actually watch the H.O.R.S.E. competition?
Or the Slam Dunk?
Or the 3 point contest?
Or the game........itself?
