Thoughts......on ....a Friday.

In this small southern college town....this is a post card perfect afternoon.   70 degrees with sunny skies.   Is ......spring .....finally here?   Feels like it.

March Madness.....is here.   Great drama.....great theater .....great games.

I sure do like......those $3.99 car wash places.

Atlanta drivers.....may not be the worst.....but they are the most daring.

I don't think.....I will have a garden ......this year.

Just think....in a few weeks.....we will all have to crank up the old lawn mower...again.

I will miss......our family conference call this Sunday...have to work...how sad.

My daughter, Madison,  is teaching me how to ......text.

My body.....is really tired....it's the week-end......and .....I'm out!

T.G.I.F.........????

It is .........Friday.

In....this small, southern, college town.....it's snowing like no tomorrow.   Snow.....as in ....that white stuff......that covers everything.

Snow........that winter wonderland of the North..... that has ....suddenly found its way south.

It is .......beautiful......breath taking.....

But.....this is the south.   We ......cannot move.....for we....cannot drive in this stuff.

When I saw the first snowflake fall.........I made a bee-line  out of the ATL......about 1:30 pm ...today.

Glad I did........

3 inches and counting.......I had my stick.....and it is official...In our backyard.

It's still coming down.......

I put up a ladder.....to the roof......

I broom swept the satellite dish.......still have TV.........still have electricity.

4 inches now.......

Hey.........it's Friday........it's the week-end.....

Well........it is Friday......and here's what's up.


Georgia, Georgia Tech, and the Atlanta Falcons.........are all road "underdogs"


We say .......all will win........straight up.


Georgia is at Tennessee.......Tech is at FSU......and the Falcons are at San Francisco.....


In this small .....southern.....college town.......Fall is in the air. Feels good...no humidity.......comfortable......Almost.......agreeable......


Things.......I think.........I think:


So........Obama .......wins the Nobel Peace Prize.......Republicans, please get over it.....now!!!!


The MLB play-offs........have been very entertaining.


I still have not seen one episode of the new "Curb your Enthusiasm" on HBO.


My daughter insists on me getting "texting" added to my phone......I can't disagree.


I have a new "corner office" at work......my first addition was to ...add a desk calender.


800 miles...........I drove.......just this past week.


What the hell.......happened to .......September?

In this southern college town.....

It's a balmy 70 degrees.......and sunny. Spring is slowly deciding to join us. After playing "hard to get" for about thirty days........Spring......is about ready to put aside the cold, wintry persona........the iciness of old man winter himself..........those unpredictable March winds.....and those powerful April showers that turned into April storms..........And after quite a few really cold April mornings..........

Spring.....has just about.....sprung........and is just about ready to warm up to all of us.

It's about.......damn time!

It's ..........the week-end folks........and all is well!!!

You retired from broadcasting NFL games........You were the best. An original. The best thing for the sport since Howard Cosell ......The young folks don't even realize you were .....at one time ....a Super Bowl winning coach of the Oakland Raiders........many moons ago.

They see "Madden 09".........the video game........But.......we knew you then.....

And you will be missed..........

And you left on your terms......as you did when you left coaching.....We admire you.....go.....do what Mr. Madden........wants to do.

You........have earned that right.




In the, "Wait.....he's younger than me!!!!" department.........

Boston Celtic General Manager, Danny Ainge.......you know him.....his wheeling and dealing helped produce a Boston World Championship last year..........

Well........yesterday, Danny........boy wonder..........had a heart attack........medically speaking...mild.......but still a heart attack.

His age?

50!!!!!!!!!! Yes , fiddy ............Five-O........

Which makes him younger than the trifecta here at 5 on Five..... Much..... younger than 6eVoice......and younger than yours truly and GaPeach913......(Actually 6eVoice is only 2 years our senior....but it sounded good).

But this really makes you stop..........think.......and listen...

It's about time to start taking care of our bodies........exercising.......working out.....eating right...you know ........all those things.......we ditched.....when we turned 25.

Yearly check-ups........kicking bad habits.......(does this include smoking?)

We all need to take a deep reality check.......(You guys and gals go first)
