Going....going...going........Gone!

1-2-3-4........

Four games.....four losses.

For the Atlanta Hawks.......it was four and out.    The most lopsided series...in NBA history.

Enough said.

Blow this team up.   They have no heart.....no coaching.....no chemistry..no ....nothing!

Hawks.......Magic........Game 2

The Atlanta Hawks ....play as well as they can play....and for 3 quarters...it was good enough.

Then came that 4th quarter.....and....as much as the Atlanta fans hate to admit it.....

Orlando is the better team.

Thus.......Orlando 2....Hawks 0.

Everything you need to know from the Magic's 112-98 win over the Hawks in Game 2

Magic vs. Hawks
Vince Carter gets up for a reverse slam against the Hawks. (Stephen M. Dowell, Orlando Sentinel)
The Orlando Magic defeated the Atlanta Hawks 112-98 in Game 3 of the teams' Eastern Conference semifinal series Thursday night at Amway Arena. Led by Dwight Howard's 29 points and 17 rebounds, both game highs, the Magic outscored the Hawks 63-41 in the second half.

The turning point

Orlando trailed 57-49 at the half, but the Magic surged in the opening minutes of the third quarter. Even with Howard going to the locker room for a stretch to have his bloody nose examined, the Magic started the second half with an 8-0 run to regain the lead.

"We just fell apart to start the third quarter to give them momentum to get back into the game, and then it was back and forth in that third quarter," Hawks coach Mike Woodson said.

The hero

Vince Carter started slowly, scoring only four points in the first half. But he stepped up his play markedly in the second half by scoring 20 points on 8-of-12 shooting from the field.

"I was just trying to make plays," Carter said. "Just patience is the most important thing in my mind. In the first half, they were going to zone on my pick-and-rolls and just made me give it up. I didn't want to force anything, just go as far as possible, move the ball. And those guys started hitting shots, which inevitably opened up the lanes for me in the second half, and once I saw they were open, I just tried to take advantage it."

The goat

Hawks starting point guard Mike Bibby played only 13 minutes, 41 seconds and he often looked like a significant defensive liability against Jameer Nelson. Bibby finished with three points and one assist.

Stan said what?

"Well, they missed some shots and that helps. And, then again, I thought that Vince made great plays. But we were able to do a better job defensively and on the boards in the fourth quarter, and I think that was really the key." --Magic coach Stan Van Gundy on why the Magic outscored the Hawks 28-15 in the fourth quarter

Digits 2 Dig

0 After committing three personal fouls during the first half, Howard had no fouls in the third quarter.
21 Just under 21 minutes elapsed in the game before Carter made his first field goal. His basket -- an eight-foot running hook shot -- cut Atlanta's lead to 48-43 with 3:03 remaining in the second quarter.

96.8 The Hawks made 30 of their 31 free-throw attempts. That's a 96.8 percent success rate.

The series travels to Orlando and will reconvene on Tuesday in this 2-3-2 format.

As close as the game was last night, the Magic have to feel good about getting at least 2 wins at home.

It'll never happen........and this series will never make it back to L A...

Last nights' game, was the Magics' one and only chance. And Mr. Lee could not hit a lay-up.

Can you believe Orlando is now 0-6.......in the finals? After this series........they will be 0-8.

A "La la Land"..........Beat Down......

100-75..........

And it was not even that close.

Sorry, Orlando........and your fans.

You guys..........are done. Finished. It's over. That fat lady has sung.

The Los Angeles Lakers and that man, Kobe, made an opening statement last night........"This is our time."

Too much size...........too much defense........too much Kobe.

The Magics' superman, (Dwight Howard) hit on 1 of only 6 shots..........not good.....

Kobe?

He dropped 40........end of discussion.

Basketball...........101

We came across this.....from the "Orlando Sentinel"......

Obviously.......the Orlando fans.....are ..........a bit new.....to the NBA...

New to the Orlando Magic bandwagon? Here's a guide for new fans

A beginner's guide to following Orlando Magic games in the NBA Finals.

Why are the Magic playing the Los Angeles Lakers?

The Magic, after beating Philadelphia, Boston and Cleveland, are now champions of the Eastern Conference. The Lakers beat Utah, Houston and Denver in the Western Conference. The best in the East always plays the best in the West for the NBA title.

How come the first two games are in LA ?

The games are in a two-three-two format -- two games in LA, three games in Orlando and the last two in LA. The team with the best season record has the home-team advantage for the series and Game 7. The Lakers had a better season record than Orlando. That means Game 7 -- if needed -- will be in L.A.

What's the deal with the one sleeve worn by some players?

It's an accessory that some believe may keep their arms loose. Allen Iverson started the trend in 2000 when he kept wearing what looked like an oversized-compression bandage on his arm after having elbow surgery. Other players, including Howard and Magic forward Mickael Pietrus, followed. You can now buy one for $20 online.

Why is there a 24-second clock over the basketball hoop?

The team with the basketball has 24 seconds to shoot the ball, which has to hit at least the rim of the basket. If the clock runs out, a shot-second violation is called and the other team gets the ball. And while the clock, like all of them, can be cruel, it can be brought down. Orlando's Dwight Howard broke the clock with a first-quarter dunk before a recent playoff game at Cleveland.

What does "in the paint" mean?

"The paint" is the area directly in front of the basket that is painted a different color. It runs from the free-throw line to the baseline under the basket. When Dwight Howard scores, he adds to the Magic's points "in the paint."

What's the backcourt and front court?

When the Magic have the ball, the backcourt is the half of the court where the Lakers' basket is. The frontcourt is where the Magic's basket is. Backcourt also refers to guards and frontcourt to forwards and centers. If someone says, "The Magic dominated in the backcourt," it means the Magic's guards outplayed the Laker guards.

The announcer shouts something about scoring off the dribble. What does "off the dribble" mean?

That's sports-talk for shooting the ball after dribbling.

TV commentators and coaches are wearing lapel pins with the initials "CD" on them. What is that for?

It's to honor former Detroit Pistons and former Magic coach Chuck Daly, a Hall of Fame coach who died last month.

How did Dwight Howard get the "Superman" nickname?

He wore a Superman costume when he won the 2008 NBA Slam Dunk Contest at the all-star game. The nickname seemed to fit so it stuck.

You may have noticed a number of NBA players have their heads adorned with headbands (no matter how dorky they look). None of the Orlando Magic players wears them. Is that by choice?

The Magic's general manager bans the team's players from wearing the sweat-catchers. The reason: It's not part of the standard uniform so it's not needed. Other teams, such as the Chicago Bulls, also have a no-headband rule. (Orlando's Courtney Lee was given an exception since he has to wear a mask to protect his face after sinus surgery.)

Is a technical foul really technical?

A referee can call a technical foul on a slew of things: if a coach mouths off too much to a referee; if a player's conduct is unsportsmanlike; if a coach runs out onto the court without permission; if a player spouts a really bad profanity; if a team is delaying the game. It's really whatever the referee wants. The penalty: The other team gets one or two free throws and then gets the ball.

What about a "double-dribble." Does that mean a player needs an extra tissue?

Nope. It's when the player dribbles the ball and stops and holds it with both hands and then dribbles again. The player has to either attempt to make a basket or pass the ball to another player.

Why are all the coaches and injured players sidelined so dressed up at a basketball game?

The NBA has a dress code. Yep. Coaches and (ineligible) players on the team bench have to wear suit coats and dress shoes at the game. They can go "business casual" later when leaving the arena.

I thought goal tending was a position in soccer. It's not?

Goal tending is when an opposing player interferes with the ball -- bats it out of the way -- when it's touching the rim or on its way down into the basket. If that happens, the shooting team automatically gets two points if it was shot within the two-point area and three points if it was shot outside the three-point line.

How do those lucky members of the public get to sit court side?

Magic folks say they are mainly season-ticket holders and corporate sponsors. A few tickets are held back for a mere $375 to $800 a seat, according to the Magic. Online sites, such as stubhub.com, have court-side seats at $10,000.

An Old Fashioned......Beat-down.....in 2009?

Amway Arena........Orlando, Florida......

An NBA basketball game was played here, Friday night. The game pitted the number one team in the division (Orlando Magic) and "man child" Dwight Howard (pictured) against the number two team (Atlanta Hawks).

And when it was mercifully over........the Magic put a little space between themselves and the rest of the division.....most notably .......the young, athletic.......Atlanta Hawks.

122-87..............

And it wasn't even that close. Several times in this game, the Hawks trailed by over 50 points....yes......."fiddie"........

At the end of the first quarter, it was 41-18..........Magic.

By the half .......it was 71-33........Magic........and the rout was on.

In the end........when all was said and done........The Hawks attempted ....or put up 80 shots.....only to have 28 go through the basket for two pointers.

Meanwhile, the Magic scored at will..........putting up 83 shots with 40 going in for two's......and astounding 16 of 28 three pointers going in.

The good thing about the NBA? And the scheduling? No time to dwell in sorrow. Tomorrow means another city..........another game.

For these young Hawks...........this is a good thing.....

A beat-down in Orlando?

Shit happens........
